Kerala Police Seize About 75 Kg of Suspected Ganja in Two Raids, Six Held
Police now probe a broader railway-based trafficking network using call records, bank trails.
Overview
- Police reported two linked operations in Ernakulam over two days that led to the seizure of roughly 75 kg of suspected ganja and the arrest of six people.
- A joint RPF–GRP–CPDS team intercepted the Tatanagar–Ernakulam Express at Ernakulam Junction and recovered 56 kg from a coach, detaining bed-roll staffer Sukulal Tudu along with Deepak and Saroop.
- In a separate case a day earlier, Puthencruz police and the Ernakulam Rural anti-narcotic squad arrested three men from Murshidabad with 19 kg while they waited for onward travel near Mattappilly.
- The trio held from the train were booked under NDPS provisions for commercial quantity and remanded to judicial custody, with investigators examining call detail records and bank accounts to trace links.
- Officials said consignments were sourced from eastern states for resale in Kerala at far higher prices, valuing one seizure at about ₹28 lakh and citing a procurement cost near ₹3,000 per kg.
