Kerala Police Arrest 57 in Dalit Athlete Sexual Abuse Case, Two Suspects Abroad

The arrests follow allegations of years-long sexual abuse of a minor, with 30 cases registered and a special investigation team leading the probe.

Kerala Police have arrested 57 of 59 individuals accused in the sexual abuse of a Dalit athlete over five years, with two suspects currently abroad.
The abuse began when the victim was 13 years old and involved blackmail, gang rape, and recording of the assaults by the perpetrators.
A total of 30 cases have been registered across four police stations in Pathanamthitta district based on the victim's statement.
A 25-member special investigation team, led by senior officers, is working to expedite the investigation and file chargesheets promptly.
The victim's testimony, revealed during counseling after behavioral changes were noticed by her teachers, exposed the scale of abuse by 62 individuals, including five minors.
