Kerala Nursing College Seniors Arrested for Months of Brutal Ragging

Five third-year students from Kottayam Government Nursing College allegedly subjected first-year students to extreme physical and mental abuse over three months.

The ragging, which began in November 2024, involved physical torture, including victims being tied up, stabbed with compasses, and having dumbbells hung from their private parts.
Seniors reportedly forced victims to apply lotion to their wounds, which intensified the pain, and filmed the abuse to threaten them into silence.
Victims also alleged extortion, with seniors demanding money to purchase alcohol and assaulting those who refused to comply.
The abuse came to light after one victim confided in his father, leading to a police complaint and the arrest of five senior students under the Anti-Ragging Act.
The college administration has suspended the accused students and initiated an internal investigation, while police continue to probe potential lapses by college authorities.
