Overview
- More than 15,400 state-run schools in Kerala are set to take part in the rollout under the state education department, making the campaign one of the largest classroom-wide cyber safety efforts in the state.
- Students will formally recite a ‘Cyber Pledge’ that asks them to commit to practising safe, responsible and ethical behaviour when using the internet and digital devices.
- The initiative is run by Kid Glove Project, a cyber safety programme implemented by Cyberdome, the technology and cybersecurity wing of the Kerala Police, with the education department coordinating school participation.
- Officials say preparations are underway for the initial phase in state-board schools and that the campaign will be extended to CBSE and ICSE-affiliated schools in a later phase.
- The programme aims to build early digital literacy and change school routines by embedding online-safety habits into assemblies and classes, which may require teacher training and follow-up lessons to sustain behaviour change.
