Overview

  • The couple, identified as Bhavin and Aneesha, surrendered after Bhavin walked into Pudukad station carrying infant skeletons in the early hours of June 29 and were arrested on charges of infanticide and evidence destruction.
  • Initial forensic analysis confirmed both remains are those of male infants and classified the second death as murder while the first death remains under medical verification.
  • A Special Investigation Team exhumed burial sites at a public cremation ground and private land and dispatched bone samples to Thrissur Medical College Hospital for detailed examination.
  • Police allege the couple buried the newborns to conceal out-of-wedlock births and that Bhavin preserved the bones to assert paternity and perform ritual rites.
  • Investigators have booked the pair under multiple sections of the IPC and the Juvenile Justice Act and are awaiting DNA results to establish parentage and cause of death.
