Kerala Independent Releases Audio Alleging CPI(M) Death Threat as Party Vows Probe

V. R. Ramakrishnan, a former CPI(M) worker contesting independently in Agali’s Ward 18, released a recording he says is a call from local secretary Jamsheer.
In the audio, the caller allegedly presses him to withdraw and warns they would be "forced to kill" him if he continues, though the clip has not been independently verified.
Ramakrishnan says the call came hours after the Returning Officer accepted his nomination, and he plans to submit the recording to authorities and pursue legal action.
CPI(M) Palakkad district secretary E. N. Suresh Babu condemned such conduct, said the party will examine the allegation, and criticized sections of the media for circulating unverified claims.
The dispute unfolds ahead of Kerala’s local body polls on December 9 and 11, with signs of dissent including the expulsion of O. E. Abbas for filing as an independent.
