- IFFK runs Dec. 12–19 in Thiruvananthapuram, with Annemarie Jacir’s Palestine 36 launching the program.
- Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof chairs the international competition jury alongside Ángela Molina, Bùi Thạc Chuyên, Edmund Yeo and Sandhya Suri.
- Mauritanian-born filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako is the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, with five works screening: Life on Earth, Waiting for Happiness, Bamako, Timbuktu and Black Tea.
- Palestine 36 is a 1930s-set historical drama that won the Tokyo International Film Festival’s top prize and served as Palestine’s official Oscar submission.
- The festival will screen past Suvarna Chakoram winners including Jacir’s Wajib, and will also showcase 16 previous Golden Crow Pheasant honorees, while the Kerala Film Market runs Dec. 13–16.
