Overview

• The incident was reported around 3:30 a.m. Thursday at the family’s home in the Ambalathara/Ondampuli area of Kasaragod district, according to police.
• The deceased were identified as Gopi, his wife K.V. Indira, and their elder son Ranjesh, while the younger son, Ragesh, is in critical condition at the Government Medical College in Pariyaram with severe internal burns.
• Police said Ragesh called a relative, Narayanan, for help, prompting neighbours to break open the door and take the four to the district hospital in Kanhangad.
• Gopi died en route to the hospital and Indira and Ranjesh died on the way to the medical college, as reported by police and hospital authorities.
• Officers registered an unnatural-death case, cordoned off the house, and said the bodies will be released to relatives after postmortem as the investigation continues.
