Kerala Creates ADM for Sabarimala and Orders Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle

The new post is meant to centralize pilgrim logistics and ensure coordinated government action during the Mandalam–Makaravilakku season.

Overview

  • The General Administration Department on Friday ordered an ex‑cadre Additional District Magistrate, Sabarimala, and posted IAS officer Dilip K. Kainikkara to the role to manage Sabarimala, Pampa and Nilackal for the 2026–27 pilgrimage season.
  • The ADM has full authority to coordinate activities of all government departments and agencies in the pilgrimage area, covering operational logistics, inter-agency planning and on‑ground administration for the Mandalam–Makaravilakku period.
  • The same government order reassigns or gives additional charge to 35 officers across health, education, local administration, transport and project bodies, including Dr Renu Raj taking on National Health Mission and e‑Health responsibilities, V. Sriram moved to Forest and Wildlife OSD, and Anju K. S. named Thiruvananthapuram Collector while chairing the Vizhinjam port rehabilitation panel.
  • The changes aim to concentrate management capacity for a high‑volume pilgrimage and to maintain continuity on major projects; they may ease coordination for pilgrims and services but could cause short‑term disruption as officers assume new roles.
  • Seasonal special posts are a recurring tool in Kerala administration to centralize command for Sabarimala, and this order — now in effect — will be watched for how it affects on‑ground arrangements, security deployment and progress on projects such as Vizhinjam.
