Overview
- The Kerala Cabinet approved the five-point reform package on Wednesday, July 29, authorising digital systems, a legal review and process re-engineering to modernise state administration.
- The Special Asset Management Platform (SAMPATH) will create a central digital registry of all government-owned assets such as land, buildings, roads, bridges, vehicles and machinery to improve tracking and reduce losses.
- PlanSpace 2.0 will upgrade the existing portal into a GIS-enabled project registry that geo-tags every capital project with location, implementing agency, approving authority, funding source and construction stage for real-time monitoring.
- The government ordered a unified registry and review of 591 state institutions that together account for about ₹19,000 crore in annual salary outgo to identify overlaps and options for merger or retirement.
