Kerala BJP Unveils Record Core Committee to Bolster Vote Share

Overview

  • Rajeev Chandrasekhar has unveiled a 23-member core committee, the largest in Kerala BJP history, to drive an organisational overhaul before December’s local body elections.
  • The panel comprises Union Ministers Suresh Gopi and George Kurian, Rajya Sabha MP C. Sadanandan and every former state BJP president.
  • Special invitees Prakash Javadekar and Aparajita Sarangi join younger leaders such as C. K. Padmanabhan and Shone George to bolster diversity.
  • The state unit has been set a target to raise its vote share from 19 percent to 25 percent in December’s local body elections.
  • O. Rajagopal and A. N. Radhakrishnan were omitted from the committee to make way for broader youth, minority and community representation.
