  • The state cabinet approved housing for 49 additional landslide survivors, raising the total number of beneficiaries to 451 and launching beneficiary verifications and field inspections from August.
  • Construction of two rehabilitation townships at Harrison Malayalam Estate in Meppadi and Elston Estate in Kalpetta is underway, with a model house completed and handover of homes targeted by year-end, weather permitting.
  • On July 30, survivors and officials gathered at Puthumala’s newly designated Hrudayabhoomi burial ground for all-faith prayers, floral tributes and a guard of honour to mark the first anniversary of the disaster.
  • Many displaced residents allege their names were omitted from official housing lists and have staged protests over slow-paced rehabilitation and continued reliance on rented accommodations.
  • Orphaned children are enrolled in the Kinship Foster Care Programme, living with close relatives, attending school and receiving ongoing support from the Wayanad District Child Protection Unit.
