Kenyan Runner Faith Kipyegon Sets New 1500m World Record at Florence Diamond League

Kenyan middle distance runner Faith Kipyegon set a new world record in the women's 1500 meters with a time of 3:49.11 at the Florence Diamond League meeting.
Kipyegon narrowly missed breaking the world record last year and now holds two Olympic gold medals, two world titles, and three Diamond League titles in the 1500m.
American sprinter Fred Kerley won the men's 100 meters in 9.94 seconds while Ivorian sprinter Marie-Josee Ta Lou took the women's 100 meters in 10.97 seconds.
Other event winners included Erriyon Knighton, Femke Bol, Grant Holloway, Mohamed Katir, Leonardo Fabbri, Andy Diaz, and Larissa Iapichino.
Kipyegon said breaking the world record was the only thing missing from her career and will motivate her going forward.
