Overview
- Kentucky State Police say board members have received death threats and had personal information posted online, and the FBI is assisting the investigation.
- The Parole Board reviewed Ronald Exantus on Sept. 30 and voted for him to stay in prison, but KRS 439.3406 required the Department of Corrections to place him on Mandatory Reentry Supervision.
- Exantus was found not guilty by reason of insanity for murder in 2018 but guilty, mentally ill, on assault counts, and he accrued good-time and education credits that shortened his time in custody.
- He was released to supervised reentry, is expected to complete that supervision in Florida, and remains under oversight until his sentence ends in June 2026.
- The White House says it is reviewing the case, and Kentucky lawmakers and the Tipton family are pushing “Logan’s Law” proposals to change how NGRI findings intersect with sentencing and release rules.
