Kentucky Mom Tiffanie Lucas Charged with Shooting Dead Her Two Young Sons Despite Prior Concerns Raised to CPS

Family members of murdered children previously reported concerns to Child Protective Services, with Tiffanie Lucas, 32, being held on a $2 million bond after the shootings; past criminal history includes a drug conviction.

Tiffanie Lucas, 32, of Kentucky has been charged with two counts of murder in the shooting deaths of her two sons, Jayden, 9, and Maurice, 6. The boys were found in their home with a gun nearby.
The victims’ older brother, Durrell Howard, revealed that family members had repeatedly contacted Child Protective Services over the years due to concerns about Lucas.
Despite the concerns raised to Child Protective Services, it is unclear if any action was ever taken by the authorities regarding the boys' safety.
Lucas previously spent a month in jail for a drug conviction, and she showed no emotion when she appeared before a judge. She is currently held on a $2 million bond.
Col. Alex Payne, Chief Deputy of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, stated that potential reasons for the horrific incident could include mental illness, substance abuse or pure evil.
The tragic incident left the community deeply affected. Neighbors expressed shock and dismay, describing the children as often seen playing outside and waiting for the school bus just days before the tragedy.
