Kentucky Lawmaker Johnnie Turner Recovering After Lawnmower Accident

Turner remains in ICU but shows signs of improvement after driving a lawnmower into an empty swimming pool at his home.

State Sen. Johnnie Turner was critically injured on Sunday when he drove a lawnmower into the deep end of an empty swimming pool at his residence.
Turner, a Republican from Harlan, is currently in the ICU but has shown progress, being able to sit upright and communicate.
He was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Turner's family has requested prayers for his speedy recovery, according to Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers.
Turner, who represents multiple counties in eastern Kentucky, is up for re-election in November and previously served in the Kentucky House from 1999 to 2002.
