Overview
- Kentucky released the free Kentucky Mobile ID app on iOS and Android in partnership with IDEMIA.
- The digital ID is accepted at TSA checkpoints at more than 250 airports, including CVG, SDF, LEX, and PAH.
- Enrollment requires registering a phone number, scanning the physical card, and a live selfie matched to Transportation Cabinet records, with one device allowed per ID.
- Access is secured by device PIN or biometrics, users must consent to each share with the option to limit data, and merchants verify over encrypted Bluetooth using the Mobile ID Verify app.
- The app supplements rather than replaces a physical license, and wallet integrations from Apple, Google, and Samsung are planned after a licensing system modernization in summer 2026.
