Kenta Maeda Signs Two-Year Contract with Detroit Tigers

Veteran pitcher aims to bring championship ring to Detroit, excited to join team's young core of prospects

Kenta Maeda, a 35-year-old right-handed pitcher, has signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Tigers.
Maeda, who spent the last three seasons with the Minnesota Twins, was attracted to the Tigers because of their young, talented core of prospects.
Maeda's contract includes a donation to the Detroit Tigers Foundation, the club’s charitable arm, as a thank you for welcoming him.
Maeda will be the third Japanese pitcher for the Tigers, following Masao Kida and Hideo Nomo who played for the team in 1999 and 2000 respectively.
Maeda's goal is to bring a championship ring to Detroit, a city he's excited to explore and where he's noted a large Japanese community.
