Overview
- Ember Lab and publisher Sony announced Thursday that Kena: Scars of Kosmora has been pushed to sometime in 2027 and currently has no firm release date.
- The studio said it needs the delay to polish and scale the game so it can exceed the quality of 2021’s Bridge of Spirits, citing statements from COO Josh Grier and writer Thomas Varga on the PlayStation Blog.
- Scars of Kosmora remains a character-focused, linear adventure but expands its scope with an island setting built around four element-linked cultures and new regional stories.
- The game will include dungeon-style Spirit Guide temples that test player skill and grant transformative rewards, and it adds a crystalline canine mount that helps with traversal, combat on and off the mount, and puzzle solving.
- The postponement shifts Ember Lab’s launch timetable and fan expectations while leaving room for further updates from the studio and PlayStation on an exact 2027 window.
