Overview
- A blaze that began in the early hours gutted a residential building on Reutlinger Straße and left the structure uninhabitable.
- Firefighters from Kempten’s main station and two districts, supported by three THW teams, two emergency physicians and two rescue crews, contained the fire and stopped it from spreading to neighbouring houses.
- Two 60-year-old residents were able to leave the building on their own and were treated in hospital for light smoke inhalation.
- Police have provisionally estimated damage at about €800,000 and said the property cannot be lived in until structural and insurance assessments are completed.
- The cause of the fire remains unclear and the Kriminalpolizeiinspektion Kempten is leading further investigations, which include forensic on-site work and follow-up inquiries that could determine whether the blaze was accidental or criminal.
