KCET Rebrands as 'SoCal Plus' in Unified Branding Move

The Los Angeles-based public broadcaster's programming will remain the same, with the rebranding aimed at enhancing efficiency and engagement across various platforms.

  • KCET, a Los Angeles-based public broadcaster, will be rebranded as 'PBS SoCal Plus' starting February 6, consolidating with its sister station PBS SoCal under one unified brand.
  • The rebranding is aimed at creating more efficiency, better awareness, and enhancing engagement across digital streaming platforms, social media, educational curricula, and in-person events.
  • Despite the name change, KCET's programming will not change and the station's original call letters will continue to be used during FCC-mandated station identifier breaks.
  • The two stations have already merged their websites under the PBS SoCal name, and local viewers will continue to watch PBS SoCal Plus programming on the same channels that carried KCET.
  • The rebranding aligns the local flagship organization with the trusted values and brand strength associated with the PBS name, according to Dan Ferguson, SVP Marketing and Communications at PBS SoCal.
