• K9 Karina, a German Shepherd who served Kaziranga National Park for 10 years, passed away on May 8, 2025, from age-related health issues.
• Trained under WWF-India’s Sniffer Dog Programme and the 23rd Battalion of Special Armed Forces, she was pivotal in combating wildlife crime.
• Her key achievements included aiding in a 2016 murder case, identifying a rhino poacher shelter in 2018, and assisting in a rifle seizure in 2023.
• Karina recovered from major surgery in December 2024 but had been unwell in the days leading up to her death.
• She was laid to rest with full state honors at the Assam Forest Protection Force’s 2nd Battalion headquarters in Seekoni on May 9, 2025.
