- The July–September 2025 fieldwork, conducted with the Wildlife Institute of India, combined visual surveys with AI-based passive acoustic monitoring for amphibians.
- Forty-four fish species were recorded in the latest sweep, led by Cyprinidae and Danionidae families, with the combined total reaffirming Kaziranga as a key Brahmaputra basin refuge.
- The herpetofauna report documents species of conservation concern, including King cobra, Assam roofed turtle, Nilssonia nigricans (CR), Varanus flavescens (EN), and the Kaziranga-endemic Cyrtodactylus kazirangaensis (DD).
- The reports were unveiled on November 2 at Kohora Convention Centre by Assam’s environment minister and were later highlighted by the chief minister, with authors calling out threats from climate change, siltation, hydrological changes, and unregulated fishing.
