Kayem Foods Recalls Over 24,000 Pounds of Chicken Sausage After Plastic Contamination

  • Kayem Foods voluntarily recalled 24,173 pounds of All Natural Al Fresco Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage produced on June 28 under lot code 179 in 11-ounce, four-count vacuum-packed packages.
  • The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service classified the action as a Class I recall, its highest risk category, after three customers reported finding white plastic pieces.
  • Recalled products bear establishment number P-7839 inside the USDA mark of inspection and a use/freeze by date of Oct. 1, 2025, and were shipped to retailers nationwide.
  • No injuries have been reported, though hard or sharp plastic fragments pose choking and internal injury hazards.
  • Consumers are urged to discard or return affected packages and may contact Kayem Foods or the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline for guidance.
