Officials have launched a vessel-accident investigation to determine how the kayaker ended up in the water.

  • Training nearby, the U.S. Coast Guard deployed a 47-foot lifeboat that recovered an unresponsive adult male believed to have been alone.
  • The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and helicopter Henry 1 responded near Doran Beach and noted the kayak carried crabbing gear and the man wore a personal flotation device.
