Katihar BDO Suspended for Unbecoming Conduct in Voter Roll Revision

  • District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena placed Hari Om Sharan under suspension on July 15 after finding his reply to a show-cause notice unsatisfactory
  • Administration officials said Sharan’s social media and newspaper accusations against SDO Dixit Shwetam amounted to a smear campaign and breached conduct standards
  • Earlier this week Sharan had alleged harassment by his senior officer, circulated a viral resignation letter that was never formally received, and then resumed duty after apologizing
  • The district administration has recommended departmental proceedings to determine further disciplinary actions against the BDO
  • Separately, a Booth Level Officer in Gaya district was suspended and an FIR filed for allegedly demanding money from electors during the same voter list update
