Katie Ledecky Breaks Michael Phelps' World Championship Gold Medal Record with Historic 800m Freestyle Win

Katie Ledecky won the women's 800m freestyle at the 2023 World Championships for her 16th individual world title, surpassing Michael Phelps for the most ever.
Ledecky became the first swimmer to win the same event six times consecutively at the World Championships by dominating the 800m freestyle.
In addition to the 800m, Ledecky also won gold in the 1500m freestyle and silver in the 400m freestyle at these championships.
Other highlights included Kaylee McKeown becoming the first woman to sweep all three backstroke events and Sarah Sjöström matching Phelps with her 20th individual world medal.
The Australian mixed 4x100m freestyle relay team also set a new world record at these championships.
