Katherine Maher Appointed as New CEO of NPR

Former Wikimedia Foundation CEO to lead NPR through digital transition starting March 25, 2024.

Katherine Maher, former CEO of the Wikimedia Foundation, has been appointed as the new CEO of NPR, succeeding John Lansing.
Maher, who also leads Web Summit, a global technology event organization, will begin her term at NPR on March 25, 2024.
Her appointment comes at a critical time for NPR, which is grappling with a decline in traditional radio listenership and a shift towards digital platforms.
Maher's previous experience includes successfully doubling Wikimedia Foundation's fundraising and establishing its first endowment.
Maher aims to build consumer loyalty for NPR's news programs and other content, and to reinvent and reimagine the network in line with the changing world.
