- In a message on her official website, Bush called Upham "one of my very dearest friends" and said she is heartbroken by his disappearance.
- Upham’s family posted on Instagram that he is "deeply loved and will be forever missed" and thanked the RNLI and Coastguard for their efforts.
- Devon and Cornwall Police said several swimmers were rescued and treated, but Mr Upham, 63, and another man believed to be in his 40s have not been found.
