Overview

  • Kasthuri Raja publicly announced on May 27 that he will file a lawsuit against Mythri Movie Makers over the unauthorised inclusion of Panju Mithai, Otha Ruba Tharen and Thootuvalai Ilai Arachi in Good Bad Ugly.
  • The action follows a similar April legal notice from composer Ilaiyaraaja, who demanded ₹5 crore in compensation and removal of Ilamai Idho Idho, En Jodi Manja Kuruvi and Oththa Roova from the film.
  • Producers led by Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar maintain they obtained No Objection Certificates from the music labels holding the rights and complied with standard clearance protocols.
  • Kasthuri Raja criticised industry reliance on nostalgia over original composition and emphasised the necessity of seeking direct permission from song creators.
  • The dispute highlights recurring copyright challenges in the Tamil film industry, where classic tracks are frequently repurposed without securing consent from original composers.
