Kashmir Agencies Complete Large-Scale Security Drills Before Amarnath Yatra

Security teams conducted realistic drills under unified command simulating critical incidents to test inter-agency coordination; gaps identified during the exercises are now being addressed

Overview

  • On July 15, Srinagar Police joined Central Armed Police Forces, civil departments and emergency services for mega mock drills across Srinagar and the Ganderbal, Budgam, Pulwama and Kulgam yatra routes
  • Exercises recreated standoff firefights, attempted fidayeen attacks, IED detection, convoy stoppages, emergency evacuations, crowd management and disasters such as earthquakes and landslides
  • Senior police officers and zonal and sector commanders supervised the drills to enforce and refine standard operating procedures with real-time monitoring and seamless communication
  • Under the unified command of the Joint Police Control Room, participating agencies reviewed logistical support for pilgrims, covering food, shelter and medical aid
  • Authorities conducted the drills without disrupting pilgrims or residents, secured widespread cooperation and moved promptly to address operational gaps
