Overview
- The Centre has set a two‑phase schedule: December 2–15 in Varanasi and December 16–30 in Tamil Nadu under the theme “Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam.”
- Fifty Hindi‑proficient teachers from Tamil Nadu will run 15‑day spoken Tamil modules in 50 Kashi schools for about 1,500 students using CICT’s Hindi‑medium materials.
- Around 300 college students from Uttar Pradesh will travel to Tamil Nadu in the second phase for a 15‑day Tamil learning programme hosted by institutions including IIT Madras and Pondicherry University.
- Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the first phase at Namo Ghat, with TN governor R. N. Ravi and Puducherry LG K. Kailashnathan attending; IIT Madras and BHU are the knowledge partners with support from multiple Union ministries and the UP government.
- More than 1,400 delegates from Tamil Nadu will take part in cultural and academic engagements across Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya, alongside a Sage Agastya vehicle expedition launching from Tenkasi and scheduled to reach Varanasi during the first phase.
