Overview

  • Karoline for Congress hasn’t raised any funds since April and reported zero cash on hand as of June 30, leaving a $326,370.50 debt to more than 100 creditors.
  • Much of the outstanding balance stems from illegal or excessive contributions the committee accepted years ago and has yet to fully refund.
  • In January the committee amended 17 FEC reports to disclose over-the-limit donations and issued a handful of refunds in April.
  • An End Citizens United complaint from November 2022 prompted the audit, which cannot proceed without a confirmed quorum of Federal Election Commission commissioners.
  • Federal law shields Leavitt from personal liability for campaign debt and, unlike some peers, her committee has not adopted any debt-retirement strategies.
