Karnataka Sets September Debut for ‘Kalaloka’ Heritage Stall at Bengaluru Airport

Showcasing six signature crafts plus 28 GI-tagged items under a half-price rental concession, the initiative supports Karnataka’s cultural identity as well as artisan markets.

  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the 130-square-metre Kalaloka outlet at Kempegowda International Airport in September.
  • Industries Minister M B Patil has finalized the stall’s design, product range and international-standard packaging in coordination with the Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre and the Department of Industries and Commerce.
  • The retail space will feature six signature heritage items including coffee, Mysuru silk, KSDL sandal soap, Lidkar leather goods, handicrafts and handwoven textiles.
  • Travellers will also find 28 Geographical Indication-tagged products such as Channapatna toys presented in premium packaging and branding.
  • Kempegowda Airport authorities have granted the stall a 50 percent rent concession; tenders will soon be invited for a second Kalaloka shop in the airport’s International Lounge.
