Karnataka Seeks Rs 1,545 Crore NDRF Aid, Clears Rs 2,296 Crore Bengaluru Works

  • The government will submit a recovery and reconstruction memorandum to the Centre seeking Rs 1,545.23 crore under the NDRF, which the minister said is the state's first such request focused on infrastructure.
  • A Rs 2,296.57 crore package for Bengaluru was approved, allocating Rs 1,241.57 crore to asphalt main and sub-main roads and Rs 1,055 crore for ward-level and basic infrastructure across five Greater Bengaluru Authority corporations.
  • Departments were directed to issue short-term tenders and obtain tender and administrative approvals in a single step to speed implementation.
  • The cabinet note cites more than Rs 5,000 crore in infrastructure damage during the monsoon, 56 deaths, and extensive harm to roads, schools, health facilities, and power assets.
  • Other approvals included eight Technology Business Incubators under the startup policy (Rs 80 crore), a Cauvery IT Cell for the registration department (Rs 69.13 crore), repair of four ports (Rs 40.12 crore), 2,200 school classrooms (Rs 360.01 crore), and 241 police vehicles (Rs 34.95 crore).
