Overview

• The Cabinet approved an additional ₹270.83 crore over the original plan to move beyond ATR-only operations and accommodate larger aircraft.
• Infrastructure Development Minister M. B. Patil said the upgrade enables Airbus A320 operations and expands the project’s scope.
• Allocations include ₹65 crore for night-landing works and runway shoulders, ₹52 crore for an approach road to NH-50, ₹25 crore for two firefighting vehicles, ₹2.76 crore for a baggage detection system, and ₹13.09 crore for DVOR equipment.
• Officials said the Chief Secretary will review the revised plan as environmental concerns were discussed, with periodic oversight by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and AAI.
