Karnataka Overhauls Bengaluru Police With Transfer of 35 IPS Officers

By installing new leaders in crime, traffic, administration roles, the overhaul is designed to boost urban policing efficiency.

Overview

  • On July 14, the Karnataka government reassigned 35 IPS officers statewide, including replacements for Bengaluru’s crime branch and traffic department leadership.
  • Ajay Hilori has been moved from IG North Eastern Range in Kalaburagi to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) to head Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch.
  • Karthik Reddy takes over as Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Bengaluru, with M. N. Anucheth shifting to Deputy Inspector General of Police for recruitment.
  • Bengaluru has been divided into three new law and order divisions—Electronics City, South West and North West—with Narayana M., Anita Bhimappa Haddannavar and Nagesh D. L. appointed as DCPs.
  • Iada Martin Marbaniang has assumed the role of DIGP (Administration) at Bengaluru police headquarters and Dr. Anoop A. Shetty has been posted as DCP Traffic (West) division.
