Karnataka Orders Push to Develop Anjanadri Hill as CM Seeks Funds and Clearances

Unfunded acquisition of about 101 acres is delaying works at the Hanuman pilgrimage site.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday directing officials to expedite development of Anjanadri Hill in Koppal district.
  • Works worth Rs 200 crore have been sanctioned across two phases, with Rs 10 crore released so far and the Finance Department asked to release the remaining funds.
  • The government says 77.28 acres of proposed private land could not be acquired due to lack of grants and a total of 101.30 acres must now be purchased.
  • Most planned works lie on forest land and require a No Objection Certificate from the Forest Department, which the CM instructed officials to secure.
  • Plans include elder-friendly access, a pradakshina path, dormitories, steps and a community hall, with a ropeway proposed under the 2024–25 PPP budget; H.K. Patil and Anjum Parvez attended the meeting.
