Overview

  • On May 31, Karnataka Lokayukta teams conducted simultaneous raids in Udupi, Gadag, Dharwad, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Ballari and Davanagere targeting officials accused of disproportionate asset accumulation.
  • Investigators led by DySP Vijaya Biradar seized property ownership papers, large quantities of gold and silver and land records including documents for a petrol pump and a crusher plant.
  • Searches covered a range of public servants, from a PWD superintendent engineer in Kalaburagi to a First Division Assistant at the Bagalkot Deputy Commissioner’s Office and an accounts officer at MESCOM.
  • It follows the Enforcement Directorate’s attachment of 142 immovable properties worth ₹300 crore under the PMLA in the MUDA land scam linked to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
  • The probe is based on an FIR and a Special Court directive invoking the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act over alleged irregular site allotments to Siddaramaiah’s wife valued at ₹56 crore.
