Karnataka Lokayukta Raids Net Rs 35.31 Crore in Assets From 10 Officials

The seizures mark the latest phase of a statewide Lokayukta drive based on district complaints under the SIR mechanism.

Overview

  • Search teams carried out coordinated operations on November 25 at more than 47 premises across Mandya, Bidar, Mysuru, Dharwad, Haveri, Bengaluru, Shivamogga and Davanagere.
  • The Lokayukta reported about Rs 22.31 crore in immovable assets, Rs 78.40 lakh in cash, jewellery worth roughly Rs 5.91 crore, vehicles valued at Rs 2.33 crore, and bank deposits and household items of about Rs 3.96 crore.
  • Shekappa Sannappa Kattimani, an executive engineer in Haveri, was assessed with the largest haul at approximately Rs 5.36 crore, while Mandya municipality official Puttaswamy C was pegged at roughly Rs 4.37 crore.
  • The targets span multiple departments including municipal administration, the Public Works Department, the Electronic City RTO, Karnataka University, veterinary services, the APMC in Davanagere and the Upper Krishna Project.
  • At the Mysuru home of revenue inspector Ramaswamy C, officers reported recovering property deeds, gold ornaments and cash, and the Lokayukta said further investigation is underway.
