Karnataka Launches 'Kalaloka' at Bengaluru Airport to Showcase 45 GI-Certified Products

State agencies are using the busy hub to boost recognition for Karnataka’s GI-certified goods.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the Terminal 2 domestic-bay outlet spanning 132 square metres.
  • The Department of Industries set up the store to present and sell Karnataka’s traditional and GI-certified products to domestic and international travellers.
  • The collection features 45 GI-certified items, including Mysore sandal soap, Mysore silk, Channapatna toys, coffee and Bidriware.
  • State-backed entities KSDL, Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation, KSIC, the Coffee Board and LIDKAR jointly supported the initiative.
  • Airport authorities have also allotted 140 square metres for an international departure outlet that officials say will open soon.
