Overview

  • The High Court issued an interim order on July 8–9 prohibiting police from filing any final investigation report or chargesheet in the June 4 Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede case without its prior permission.
  • Interim protection from coercive steps was extended for RCB, DNA Entertainment Networks and other petitioners until the next hearing on August 5.
  • RCB’s petition argues that the Central Administrative Tribunal breached natural justice by holding the franchise prima facie responsible for creating a “nuisance” without hearing its defence.
  • The court has issued notice on RCB’s plea and scheduled the challenge to CAT’s order for a July 17 hearing.
  • FIRs against RCB, DNA Entertainment and the Karnataka State Cricket Association remain active as CID, magisterial and judicial probes continue alongside tribunal and High Court proceedings.
