Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara clarified that no proposal is under consideration to allow Muslim government employees early leave during Ramzan.
Congress leaders Y Syed Ahmed and A R M Hussain submitted a petition to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah requesting early leave for Muslim employees to facilitate Iftar and evening prayers.
The neighboring states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have implemented policies allowing Muslim employees to leave work early during Ramzan.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized such policies in Telangana, labeling them as appeasement politics and setting a concerning precedent.
The Karnataka government has stated it is not influenced by decisions in other states and has no plans to adopt similar measures at this time.
