Overview

  • Over 70% of Scheduled Caste households statewide have been surveyed, but Bengaluru lags behind with only 33% coverage, prompting the extension.
  • The survey uses a mobile app for data collection, mapping respondents via Aadhaar, BPL cards, or caste certificates for accuracy and cross-verification.
  • Special booth camps will be held from May 26 to May 28, and an online self-declaration option will be available from May 19 to May 28 to ensure full participation.
  • The commission has received representation data from 40 state departments and election bodies to assess caste-based public employment and political representation.
  • Recommendations are expected to include dividing the 17% SC reservation among sub-castes and potentially adding four new castes to the Scheduled Caste list.
