Overview
- After a Nov. 17 meeting in New Delhi, Karnataka formally presented a five-point memorandum covering AIIMS at Raichur, disaster aid, Jal Jeevan Mission dues, key water project clearances, and sugarcane pricing, with no central decisions reported yet.
- Karnataka pressed for an AIIMS in Raichur, noting a detailed project report, identified land and a government medical college in place to support the institute in the Kalyana Karnataka region.
- The state sought Rs 2,135.99–2,136 crore under the NDRF for floods that hit 19 lakh farmers and 14.5 lakh hectares, while also alleging a Rs 13,004.63 crore shortfall in JJM releases up to 2025–26 after advancing Rs 1,500 crore to keep works running.
- The CM urged expeditious appraisal and clearance of the Mekedatu balancing reservoir following a Supreme Court development and CWMA’s request to the CWC, and sought KWDT-II gazette notification, release of Rs 5,300 crore for Upper Bhadra, and environment and wildlife clearances for Kalasa–Banduri.
- To address sugarcane distress, the state cited an interim Rs 100-per-tonne top-up with Rs 50 borne by the government and requested a revision of the Rs 31/kg sugar MSP, assured ethanol offtake, and a notification allowing states to fix harvesting and transport costs.
