Overview
- BMRCL will stack elevated metro tracks above road flyovers across two corridors totaling 37.121 km of double-decker structures.
- The JP Nagar 4th Phase–Kempapura stretch will include a 28.486 km flyover and the Hosahalli–Kadabagere corridor will add 8.635 km along Magadi Road.
- The approved cost covers civil works, land acquisition and design, with metro works funded by the Union, 50% of flyover costs by the state, 10% by urban local bodies and 40% through loans, and ₹4,000 crore set aside in the 2025–26 state budget.
- Civil construction is slated to start in early 2025 after tenders are floated in September and bids are finalised by mid-November, with completion now targeted for May 2031 at roughly 5% above the earlier ₹15,611 crore estimate.
- The double-decker length has been reduced from 44.65 km, existing ORR flyovers will be repurposed with possible removal at Delmia Junction, and a single contractor will deliver both metro and flyover works.
