Overview

  • On June 5, the Karnataka Cabinet sanctioned a ₹48 crore government grant for Phase 2 of the Quantum Research Park at IISc Bengaluru in partnership with FSID.
  • The expansion will deliver shared quantum laboratories and advanced research equipment on the IISc campus to support cross-sector innovation.
  • The park will unite academia, 13 start-ups and industry collaborators while backing 55 Karnataka-funded R&D projects under its umbrella.
  • Officials expect the initiative to attract foreign direct investment, spur intellectual property creation and unlock opportunities in pharmaceuticals, cybersecurity, climate modelling and finance.
  • A new training centre will reskill youth, professionals and educators in quantum technology and provide internal research funding for 15 IISc faculty members.
