Overview
- The 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival runs July 5–12 in the Czech Republic and will honor Dakota Johnson, Stellan Skarsgård, Vicky Krieps and Peter Sarsgaard with its top awards.
- Stellan Skarsgård will receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema and present his new film Sentimental Value.
- Dakota Johnson, Vicky Krieps and Peter Sarsgaard will each receive the President’s Award and introduce screenings of their latest films.
- Iran’s Bidad by director Soheil Beiraghi will have its world premiere after being kept secret to protect its delegation and enters the Crystal Globe competition.
- The festival program also includes presentations from Jay Duplass, Camille Cottin and Michel Franco as well as a tribute to late longtime president Jiří Bartoška.
