Karl Smesko Appointed Head Coach of Atlanta Dream

The Atlanta Dream has hired Karl Smesko, a successful college coach known for his innovative style, to lead the team.

Karl Smesko leaves Florida Gulf Coast University after 23 years to become the head coach of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream.
Smesko is recognized for his fast-paced, 3-point shooting style, having led FGCU to 14 conference titles and 10 NCAA tournaments.
With a career record of 672-139, Smesko brings one of the highest winning percentages in women's college basketball to the Dream.
He replaces Tanisha Wright, who was let go after the Dream's 15-25 season and first-round playoff exit.
The Dream aims to build on its young talent, including Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, under Smesko's leadership.
