Karimnagar Collector Signs National Anthem in Indian Sign Language
The performance built on a week of district-level ISL training designed to deepen engagement with hearing-impaired residents.
Overview
- District Collector Pamela Satpathy, joined by Additional Collector Ashwini Tanaji Wakade and Municipal Commissioner Prapul Desai, signed the national anthem alongside hearing-impaired students at the Karimnagar Police Parade Ground.
- The gesture followed a first-of-its-kind, week-long Indian Sign Language training for Karimnagar district officials arranged by Satpathy earlier in August.
- IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu unfurled the flag, took the guard of honour and praised the ISL rendition as "wonderful."
- An official release credited the signing as another innovative milestone in Satpathy’s public-welfare initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable communities.
- While the ceremony underscored a commitment to inclusive civic rituals, the administration made no immediate announcements on extending ISL use in future policies.
